June 2009

We have been VERY BUSY around here, and things don't look like they are going to slow down any time soon!!! We spent a GREAT WEEK with our youth at Caswell, and then the next week we went to the Southern Baptist Convention in Louisville, KY. We loved the week at Caswell and know that God did work in the hearts of our young people. The convention is great because we get to see friends from all over that we may not get to see but once a year. This year we took just Ashlyn, and left Meredith with her grandparents. It was great to have some one-on-one time with Ashlyn, but we all MISSED Meredith!!! We went to the convention on Mon, Tues, & Wed, then we stayed a couple of extra days to do some sight seeing around Louisville. Below are some of the pictures of our excursion!!

Scott holding a game bat that was used by Mickey Mantle...they made you wear white gloves to even hold it and you could not swing it....he had to just stand still and smile!!!!

Ashlyn posing outside the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory with the worlds biggest bat...she is the green speck at the bottom of the bat. I could not even get the whole bat in the picture because it was so tall!!!

We have had many more great things going on this month of June and I hope to find time to sit down and blog about them soon. Hope everyone is having a great summer!!!!!

Date Night with Daddy!!!

Scott and Ashlyn had a formal "Date Night" on May 15th. Our church had a "Date Night with Dad", and all the little girls dressed up and got there hair done. When you looked around the room it looked like a prom with the dads as there date...which is not a bad idea :))) Ashlyn was so excited about going out with her Daddy. She loves to spend time with him. This is the start of many more "Date Nights" for the two of them. It want be long and he will have to add a night with Meredith too! Scott will have his hands full with 3 women to "Date", but we think it is very important that our girls learn now what a Godly man is and then look for that in the future when it comes time for them to date. With the 3 of us taking up a lot of his time we may need to schedule ahead!!!

My Beautiful Ashlyn....

The Flower Girl

On May 2, 2009 Ashlyn embarked on her first ever journey as a flower girl in a wedding. We had some great friends get married and they gave Ashlyn the honor in being their flower girl. She was so excited!! You would have thought that she was the one getting married...she wanted her hair done, make-up on, and everything had to be just right! She did a great job, and looked very beautiful..to old if I have a say!! She is growing up to fast....wish I could put a block on her head to stop it for just a little while!

She caught the bouquet!!!! She was informed that she could not get married until she was at least 45!!!

We were out of school here last week she we packed up and went "Home" to visit my family. We stayed with my mom..aka..Nana, and enjoyed every minute of it. We did so many fun things and enjoyed the family time that we had. Daddy joined us late Wednesday night and we were so glad he could come. We spent one day a the park, another at Xtreme Play, and then on Friday we went to the North Carolina Transportation Museum. We had so much fun, but when we returned home on Saturday I was TIRED!!!! My Brother..J.R.

We got to see my brother 2 weeks ago...we will not see him again for about another 18 months. He left last week for yet another "Tour of Duty" in Iraq. My girls love their "Uncle JR", and will miss him so much. Thanks to the internet we will be able to keep in touch throughout his service in Iraq. My brother has his own Laptop, and thanks to "Wi-Fi" provided by the Military he can also log-in to the internet while in Iraq. We will be able to "IM" and have a video chat through our Web-cams. Computers can be a headache, but thankfully we can use them as a form of communication!! Please pray for his safe return to us sometime next year!!!

Easter 2009

We had a great Easter season..most of all because we serve a Risen LORD!! The Saturday before Easter we had our annual Easter Egg Hunt at church. Ashlyn would run so fast that I could get very few pictures of her in action. Meredith on the other had was very picky about which eggs she would pick up. Which color, size, who knows what she was looking for but when she found it she picked it up and put it in her basket!! One of her friends would try to steal them from her but Meredith just would not share her eggs. I guess she thought everyone understood the game...get your on!!

On Easter morning we got up VERY early to attend Sunrise Service at the church. We then at breakfast and had a great Sunday School/Worship service! The girls enjoyed their basket treats they received on that early Easter morning. The also looked very pretty in there new dresses. What princesses I do have!!

Meredith's First Trip to the Dentist!!!

This past Wednesday I took Meredith for her first teeth cleaning. She did GREAT!! She picked out her tooth brush and then proceeded to climb up in the cleaning chair. She then let the Hygienist brush her teeth, and then use the polisher to polish them. I am not sure what was so special about the way she brushed her teeth, but Meredith never is that willing for me. I told the hygienist I wish we lived close by, because she would be doing the brushing on a daily basis if we did!! Meredith picked Tigger to be her friend while we were there and he was her support right by her side. It was a fun 1st for Meredith, and we do this all again in 6 months!!

Faw Fashion Show

Last weekend when we were stuck inside because of all the rain...we had a fashion show!! The girls dressed up in many outfits and paraded through the living room. This was the "Movie Star" outfit (as Ashlyn told us), and they looked very cute. I decided to have them stop and pose for a picture, because this is very rare that they get along for as long as they did. I want this in memory for the next time they want nothing to do with each other :)))!!!

A Fun Day...

Meredith is very interesting to say the least. She gets into everything, and is VERY sneaky. This week she decided to get my Mascara from my makeup bag and apply some. She then appeared to me in the laundry room and said, "Look mom, I ook(look) ike(like) you!" Then today while she was suppose to be napping she decided to undress herself and then try to get dressed again by herself...lets say she is very independent!!! We have very interesting days here, but we miss Ashlyn while she is at school. We are counting down the days to SPRING BREAK when she will be home everyday for a week, and then summer when she is her and we can go swimming!!!! There is no telling what pics I will have then with the two of them together all day everyday!!!

"Like My Makeup???"

"I dressed myself mom!!" And yes these are pants with 2 legs that she has on!!

Meredith Turns 2!!!!

It is hard to believe that Meredith is 2 years old. It seems just like yesterday that she was a little baby in my arms at UNC Hospitals. We still remember that she was born at half-time of the ACC tournament...where CAROLINA beat NC State for the title. She waited to come at half-time so her daddy--UNC #1 fan could catch some of the game. I do believe that she will be a ball fan just like her dad!! We celebrated her day with a Mickey Mouse party with family and friends. She had a blast, and loved opening her presents. The next day when she woke up she asked where the presents were...like this was going to be a daily event! She is a WILD little 2 year old, but we would not change a thing. We are very greatfull that God gave us Mer-Mer!!!

Our Day of Snow...Spent Inside!

Due to illness in Faw Land the girls were not allowed to go outside. We have been running fevers since Saturday around here, so no snow playing around here. Maybe tomorrow they can go out and play because very little of the snow melted. Instead they decided this evening to make a "Boat" out of my laundry basket. Who says you have to use it for clothes....

Walt Disney World....Where Dreams Come True....

I had never been to Disney World until February 14, 2009, and even with that 1st day of introduction the only way I know how to explain it is.....WOW!!!!!!! Even as an adult the place was overwhelming. I believe that at times I may have had more fun than the kids. Don't get me wrong, they had a blast and are asking when can we go back, but I was amazed at the "World". Words can't explain the experience, but I did take 630 pictures to freeze the memories in time. Ashlyn's favorite was the roller coasters, and Meredith loved meeting the characters. Ashlyn rode every ride that was there, and was not scared of any of them. She staked her favorite as "Rock 'N' Roller Coaster by AeroSmith" at Disney Hollywood Studios. This ride went 0-60 in 2.8 secs, and went upside down many times. When she stepped off the ride for the 1st time her first words were, "That was GREAT...Let's do it again!!!" And she did...8 more times!!! Meredith's favorite characters where Cinderella (moms too), and Ariel. The day she meet Ariel(The Little Mermaid), she went up to her and said, "Hey Mermaid, I'm Meredith!" I believe that took Ariel by surprise due to Meredith being so young. The memories and the many things we did will always live in our mind, but we are already planning when we will return. When you leave "The Place Where Dreams Come True" you begin to start planning when you are going back. Disney world is GREAT, and we can't wait to go back....already starting to save....it is expensive!!!

Cruise to Grand Turk

We had a BLAST on our cruise to Grand Turk!!!! Great Christian Music, speakers, and we met lots of great people from all over the country. Words can not explain how much fun we had on our trip. I hope to return again next year and take Ashlyn with me. She would love all the music, swimming, and best of all 24 hour ice cream!!! The food was great, and you could eat anytime of day you wanted to. I believe that we at more in 5 days than we have ate in a whole year. This was a great time of refreshing, and we are forever grateful to all who made our trip possible!!! Thank You!!!

Snow Day 2009

After a great weekend at Myrtle Beach for a marriage retreat, Scott and I returned to a great few days with our girls before our next big adventure. Little did we know that would include a great day of playing in the snow....We went outside this morning as soon as the snow stopped falling and the girls had a blast!

Meredith loved the snow this year...and proceeded to SCREAM when it was time to go in. Who cares that her face and hands where so cold they could have been used as ICE!!
Ashlyn is an old pro at the snow...her favorite is sledding with her sister....
They had so much fun...and now Scott and I are head off to the great sun and warm temps of the Caribbean!!! What a great day we had!!
